How To Make Arrangements For A Funeral Service

One of the certainties of our being is death. Each one of use has to confront it and is yet not ready for it. Honouring the dead is a very old practice that has been constantly changing to fit into the present times. Traditionally, the funeral service used to take place at the church with singing of solemn hymns and a eulogy. But, as more people people are looking forward to personalized funeral services, the trend has undergone change over the last few decades.

Organizing a funeral could be a very painful and hard job, particularly immediately after the death of a relative or someone close. A common myth that a funeral service is a legal requirement is incorrect as no law makes it compulsory to hold a funeral service. Secondly, a majority of people have an erroneous belief that a service can be conducted only in a church. It is noteworthy that even though conventionally such services were held in a church, with the trend of personalizing, many funeral services are being conducted within the premises of the deceased. Thirdly, such a personalized service does not require presence of a casket or even a pastor or clergy to carry out the rituals.

However, in keeping with the idea of a personal funeral service, a lot of thought should be given to the wishes of the dead person. The choice of music should be from among the personal options of the deceased, though it is preferable to have soft music. You could select from a live music band or going with pre recorded music.

Some families opt for display of the personal items of the deceased in a collage, for the persons assembled to reflect on his or her life. It is also crucial to include an address in the service in form of a speech, poem or a song dedicated to the deceased by a close friend or relative.

Lastly, it is preferable to give the guests gathered at the service some type of a memento that will help them remember the deceased forever.
